In June 2005, Halff Associates, Inc. was selected by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to
produce county-wide Digital Flood Insurance Rate Map panels (DFIRMs) for Cooke County as part of the FEMA
nationwide Map Modernization Program. The project is scheduled for completion (Preliminary Maps) in September
2006.
The Flood Insurance Study will include re-mapping of the flooded areas identified on the effective Flood Insurance Rate (FIRM) maps for all incorporated and unincorporated regions of Cooke County. DFIRMs will eventually replace the current FIRMs and will include GIS database information related to the underlying base maps and technical data, although paper copies of the FIRMs will still be available for use.
The study will update approximately 202 miles of Zone A study streams, incorporate about 35 miles of detailed studies finalized in the 2003 SE Cooke County FIS, and incorporate by digital conversion about 89 miles of existing detailed and approximate study streams
