This project is part of the FEMA Map Modernization Program that will produce completely digital flood insurance study products for counties across the nation. Digital Flood Insurance Rate Maps (DFIRMs) will replace the current FIRMs and will include database information related to the underlying base maps and technical data.
Initiated in May 2007 with FY07 Funding, this FEMA project entails the GIS-based re-mapping of the Lamar County rivers and streams. A digital basemap will be developed for the entire county including transportation features, political boundaries, stream networks and open water body features.
Lamar County covers 932 square miles. The County includes about 28 miles of Zone AE streams and over 630 miles of Zone A streams that will be re-mapped.
At the conclusion of the project, Halff Associates, Inc. will have produced 27 Digital Flood Insurance Rate Maps (DFIRMs) for Lamar County.
