This project is part of the FEMA Map Modernization Program that will produce completely digital flood insurance study products for counties across the nation. Digital Flood Insurance Rate Maps (DFIRMs) will replace the current FIRMs and will include database information related to the underlying base maps and technical data.
Initiated in May 2008 with FY08 Funding, this FEMA project entails the GIS-based re-mapping of the Upshur County rivers and streams. A digital basemap will be developed for the entire county including transportation features, political boundaries, stream networks and open water body features.
Upshur County covers 593 square miles. The County includes about 3 miles of Zone AE streams and 530 miles of Zone A streams that will be re-mapped.
At the conclusion of the project, Halff Associates, Inc. will have produced 20 Digital Flood Insurance Rate Maps (DFIRMs) for Upshur County.
